About Me: About Me

Sara Minges, Founder, Life Coach
If you are ready to start making changes and want to try working with a life coach, trust your gut! Nothing else really matters if you don't feel comfortable. Some feelings of nervousness are normal, but if you think it's hard to talk to the life coach or don't feel heard or listened to, it's ok to contact another provider.
I thought I would tell you a little about me and the type of clients I LOVE working with so you can decide if there may be a good fit.
At the age of 17, I fell in love with psychology, the study of the brain and mind. I also loved stories, reading them, writing them, and watching them on the big screen. I learned early on, how important relationships are, and the healing power of storytelling.
I've devoted the last 30 years to helping children, families and women love themselves, have healthy relationships, and create lives they love. I have a B.A. in Psychology (Child & Family Studies Minor) from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Avila University in Kansas City, MO.
I've worked in respite programs, foster care and domestic violence agencies, and programs designed to help give parents the skills they need to develop positive healthy relationships with their kids. I've also worked at a mental health center as a Licensed Therapist, and started my own counseling and family coaching practice (2009).
So, this means I have a lot of specialized experience, knowledge, and tools to help my clients understand themselves better, let go of emotional blocks preventing them from being successful.
Personally, I've lived a bit of a wild life filled with twists and turns. This helps me to understand my client's experience. From growing up with a severely depressed mother, a developmentally disabled older brother, experiencing my parents unhealthy divorce and seeing them get remarried to other people, to having 4 stepbrothers at one point, to my mom getting divorced again, and my mother and brother dying, I understand a wide range of life events many of my clients are experiencing.
Sometimes, my clients request peer mentorship services due to our shared experiences. Other times, they need help clarifying their life goals and dreams and creating a plan to make it happen. Other times, they want to learn skills to have better relationships or be more successful in different areas of their life.
My areas of specialty include overcoming the following:
- stress eating/emotional eating/unwanted weight gain
- healing from toxic relationships
-self-confidence
-healing from trauma and neglect
-decreasing impulsivity, distractability, and disorganization related to ADHD
- decreasing intense family conflict
-setting boundaries
-entrepreneurship/starting a business
